Hertfordshire to take on Boreham Wood. We have four weeks to go until our Premier League opener against Leicester City and Saturday gives Thomas Frank’s squad the chance to get minutes into the legs ahead of August’s kick-off. Get to know more about tomorrow’s opponents and the match details below.

Boreham Wood has become part of the pre-season furniture in recent years, this being our seventh trip to what is now the LV BET Stadium Meadow Park since 2013

Previous to that our only encounter with The Wood was an FA Cup First Round tie in 2012 which ended in a 2-0 Brentford win, Clayton Donaldson and Harry Forrester on target that afternoon.

The Hertsmere side have been in the National League, the top-flight of non-league football, since 2015. They reached the National League Play-Off Final in 2018 after finishing fourth in the table, which remains their best-ever finish. They also reached the Play-Offs in 2020, losing out in the Semi-Finals on that occasion.

Last campaign, Luke Garrard’s side finished ninth in the fifth tier, seven points off the Play-Offs. They also enjoyed a memorable Emirates FA Cup campaign, reaching the Fifth Round for the first time in their history

. Wins over Barnet, Eastleigh, St Albans, AFC Wimbledon, and AFC Bournemouth set up a Last 16 tie against our conquerors in last season’s competition, Everton. The Wood kept it goalless for nearly an hour at Goodison Park, but Salomon Rondon’s brace eventually saw off their brave challenge.

Garrard has been busy adding to his squad this summer with five players through the door. Alfie Egan, Dion Kelly-Evans, Danny Newton, Lee Ndlovu, and Danny Elliott all arrived as free agents at the start of July.

Those five join a squad which includes former Brentford youngster, Josh Rees, and a host of players with EFL experience in the likes of Femi Ilesanmi, Mark Ricketts, Jamal Fyfield, and Connor Smith.
