Wanderers head north to Sheffield having not long returned from the south-west, where they ended league leaders Plymouth’s unbeaten home record and underline their own promotion credentials.
Next up are a Sheffield Wednesday outfit who were relegated from the Championship alongside the Blues last term – ultimately courtesy of a points deduction – and have made a solid start in their efforts to make an immediate return, sitting fifth in the table with just one home defeat all year, and one loss in their last 13 games in all competitions.
The Owls were the victims of Wanderers’ first ever Championship victory at Adams Park last October, but gained revenge at a snowy Hillsborough in February, winning 2-0. That was also the scoreline any Wycombe fans saw their side play at the famous stadium, when Wednesday triumphed on the final day of the 2011/12 season to clinch promotion to the second tier.
Wycombe go into a 10-day break from the action after Saturday’s encounter and they’ll want to end the month on a high, having seen off Bolton and Plymouth already this week.
Wycombe Wanderers will provide a stern test for a Sheffield Wednesday side that have been getting away with some moderate performances of late when the promotion rivals meet at Hillsborough on Saturday.
Wycombe had a wobble earlier this month when they went without a win for six games in all competitions, but back-to-back league victories over Bolton and Plymouth have put them back on track.
The 3-0 victory over Argyle was particularly impressive as it inflicted a first Home Park defeat and shutout on the then-leaders. Gareth Ainsworth’s side, who have tightened up significantly since their 4-1 home loss to Ipswich, defend well from the front with Sam Vokes and Brandon Hanlan tirelessly closing down opponents in their own half.
They could be the key to getting a result against an Owls team that are unbeaten in their nine league games. Their best result during that sequence was the 3-0 win over Sunderland but, otherwise all of the games have been close and we expect Saturday’s clash to be decided by fine margins.

Wednesday deserved their win over the MK Dons last weekend, but one or two displays have been underwhelming recently and we think Wycombe’s new-found defensive solidity can earn them at least a share of the spoils at Hillsborough.
A 1-1 correct score is forecast here because the only time the Owls have conceded more than once at home was to Oxford’s stoppage-time winner and the Chairboys have shipped ten in ten road trips this term.
