Having put together  five-match undefeated record in the second tier, Luton boss Nathan Jones will be frustrated with how his side fared at Deepdale.

The Welshman spoke openly about his disappointment on Saturday night, feeling that his squad had been given a wake-up call in their bid to remain in contention for promotion.

Nevertheless, Luton have already proven this season that they can bounce back with immediate effect, and home fixtures against Middlesbrough and Stoke City feel ideal ahead of the next international break.

That said, they need to show more ruthlessness at their home ground with just three wins coming from their seven outings on familiar territory.

Luton Town host Middlesbrough in an English Championship fixture with both teams looking to bounce back from disappointing defeats. Both teams have shown similar form in recent weeks and with little to separate them, a share of the spoils could be on the cards.

Luton Town are coming off a 2-0 defeat to Preston North End in their previous Championship fixture. They had brief spells of pressure but were below par and generally unconvincing against their troubled opponents.

Having put together a run of five Championship matches without defeat, Saturday’s result will be particularly disappointing for manager Nathan Jones. They are currently sitting 10th on the table but could rise as high as fifth if results go their way in midweek.

Luton Town have a decent record at home, where they have suffered just one defeat in seven matches. They are unbeaten in their last five matches at Kenilworth Road, although three of those fixtures have ended in draws.

Middlesbrough are also coming off a 2-0 loss to Birmingham City last time out in the Championship. They saw more of the possession but failed to find the breakthrough with Onel Hernandez and Jonny Howsen guilty of missing good chances.

Having won their three previous matches, manager Neil Warnock will be keen for Middlesbrough to make amends for the defeat to Birmingham. They are level on 21 points with Luton Town and could also find themselves shooting up the table if results go their way.

Middlesbrough are generally erratic on their travels but can count a few solid victories among their results on the road. They claimed a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City in their previous away fixture with Andraz Sporar getting the opening goal.
