It’s Week 1 of the 2021 season, and they are about to embark on perhaps the most highly anticipated season since the Super Bowl era three decades ago, with 70,000 of their best friends primed to turn Highmark Stadium into an ear-piercing noise chamber Sunday afternoon.

Everywhere you turned this summer, some media outlet was forecasting that the Bills would be the runaway winner of the AFC East and that they had every bit of a right as the Chiefs to lay claim to the title of “team to beat in the AFC.”

Stop and think about that for a second. The Bills. Your Bills. Bust out those old Zubaz pants.

This roster is unquestionably one of the best in the NFL, and I’m not talking just about the starting units. The Bills have quality depth in almost every area and barring things really going sideways – be it from disappointing play, bad luck, a rash of injuries, or perhaps a Covid-19 outbreak –

They are a legitimate candidate to make it to Super Bowl 56 and perhaps even win it in this, Sean McDermott’s fifth season as head coach.

The Buffalo Bills meet the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday in Week 1 NFL action from Bills Stadium in Orchard Park. Pittsburgh is coming off a 12-4 record last year and a first-place finish in the AFC North. As for the Bills, they went 13-3 last season and won the AFC East title. Pittsburgh had a solid season in 2020, but started to show some cracks toward the end of the year. The Steelers began at 11-0, but then lost four of their final five games. Pittsburgh’s playoffs run ended quickly with a Wild Card loss to the Browns 48-37.

This preseason, Pittsburgh managed to go 3-1. The Steelers beat the Cowboys 16-3, the Eagles 24-16 and the Lions 26-20 before a 34-9 loss at the hands of the Panthers. In the defeat, Pittsburgh QB Dwayne Haskins threw for 108 yards, one TD and one interception
