Leyton Orient take on QPR in the first round of the Carabao Cup, where the O’s will be looking to cause an upset against Mark Warburton’s Championship side.

Kenny Jackett’s team come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Salford. Right at the end of the match, Paul Smyth hobbled off and subsequently will be monitored ahead of tonight’s game, against his former club.

Elsewhere, defender Adam Thompson and striker Harry Smith are likely to miss out again as they continue to recover from respective injuries.

The R’s

Queens Park Rangers are widely tipped for a play-off push this season following an impressive second-half of last season, where Warburton’s side finished 9th in the Championship.

There is optimism amongst the fans of the West London side that they can build on last season’s good run of form, especially with the permanent signings of key players such as striker Charlie Austin and captain Stefan Johansen.

The R’s come into their seventh season in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League in 2015. After a few seasons flirting with relegation, the Hoops are now in a much stronger position to believe they can end their stay outside the top flight.

Former Brentford, Rangers and Nottingham Forest manager Warburton is starting his third consecutive season in charge at the club after joining in May 2019, winning 36 of 99 games and will celebrate his 100th game in charge against Orient on Wednesday night. Warburton signed a new contract with the club last Thursday for an undisclosed length of time.
